The 2013 California Community College Rankings is a must-have list for future and current students who are weighing up the pros and cons of different colleges.
“A community college is a great way to earn college credit at home before going away to a bigger school. However, there are a number of important factors to consider to ensure you choose the college that’s right for you,” said the spokesperson.
According to cheaponlinecolleges.org, the success rate and transfer rate of any college is the number one consideration for future students who are looking towards a major university as their end goal.

At 72 per cent, De Anza College tops the list with one of the highest graduation and transfer rates in the state. Located in Cupertino, California, the community college plays a vital role in the Silicon Valley community, with a diverse student population. The college boasts an excellent animation program that is ranked alongside top universities such as New York University, UCLA and USC.
“De Anza College is rightfully at the top of the list. Its students often transfer to many of the California State and University of California campuses around the state,” said the spokesperson.
Second only to De Anza College, Foothill College has a transfer and success rate of 68.2 per cent. Like De Anza, the college is part of the Silicon Valley community, however Foothill College boasts a very different and unique offering.
“Foothill College students enjoy access to a Japanese Cultural Center, an observatory, an all-weather track and much more. It truly is a unique college and worthy of being one of the top three community colleges in the state,” the spokesperson said.
Third on the list is Santa Barbara City College (SBCC), which recently won the Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence. Known for its dedication to academic support, SBCC prepares its students for university degrees and many students transfer to the University of California Santa Barbara.
