(EMAILWIRE.COM, November 19, 2008 ) Las Vegas, NV -- The West Las Vegas Library will host a special presentation by a representative from the George Gammon House, a famous stop on the Underground Railroad. Open to the public at no charge on Dec 6 at 1pm.
Black abolitionist George Gammon was a black freeman that built a tunnel in the basement and secret passages around the house located at 620 Piqua Place in Springfield, Ohio. The home was a popular Underground Railroad stop. The home is now being restored and will open as a museum in late 2009.
The West Las Vegas Library is a gathering place for the community. It features the African American Special Collection consisting of specialized materials by and about African Americans, and the Library District's first dedicated Homework Help Center.
