Avocent Demonstrates Support for WS-Management Specification

This collaboration expands on existing partnerships for Avocent’s Agentless Management Modules, which are currently shipping in nearly 4 million servers.The WS-Management specification promotes interoperability between PCs, servers, devices, and management applications by providing a universal language that all types of devices can use to share data. It allows IT managers to remotely access devices on their networks using existing web services. Along with the Systems Management Architecture for Server Hardware (SMASH) Command Line Protocol (CLP) initiative, WS-Management is part of the DMTF’s goal for lowering the operational costs associated with managing large networks. The platforms allow administrators to manage devices with service processors such as IPMI, iLO, and DRAC.
