YouTube, MySpace, Yahoo Video, and now, CalMagazine.com

(EMAILWIRE.COM, March 01, 2007 ) Sacramento, CA -- Video through computers, cell phones and IPods is the direction media can now reach our quick moving society. But, are the millions of Latinos in the U.S. feel they are being left out of this market? Can there be a website established by Latinos for Latinos that provides social media and free speech? “We want to let everyone know that CalMagazine.com is for the Latino video maker who wants to get recognition,” says Luis Perez, President and Co-Founder of CalMagazine.com. “But we're not like YouTube where anyone can just throw a video into the web. We're looking for quality, well written and produced family-oriented video, and, for now, we are doing the up-linking ourselves, but will let trusted products do their own up-links.” Perez says this is how CalMagazine.com can ensure all videos on the website maintain their value and integrity. “We know the expense of putting video together, editing it and getting up on the web,” Perez ads, referring to the videos now on CalMagazine.com. “My brothers and I founded the company and so we decided to create our videos as well. I think that gave us a real appreciation for the art of making videos.” CalMagazine.com is a unique website specifically designed to focus on family entertainment without the complexities of other video websites. It features an easy to use and fully functional remote control and a television screen that shows a menu of programs available by heading. In fact, its features and functions are similar to that of Cable television. The biggest difference is the videos are designed for the web user. “It's easier to use than YouTube, and Google Video,” says Ricardo Perez, Vice President of Content and Technology. “In fact anyone from the age of three to 103 can easily maneuver in CalMagazine.com. Plus, we can either do video-on-demand or webcasting. We're currently looking at webcasting some important conferences and holiday plays.” “Look, this is fun for kids because it is safe,” adds Adrian Perez, Vice President of Editing. “It's sometimes a little tongue-in-cheek, but you won't find adult content or anything gross on our website. And, we do invite critics, movie makers, musicians, and others who feel they have a quality product they want to share with the world to submit it to us and we'll place it on our website.” All videos are screened by The Perez brothers (Luis, Adrian, Ricardo and Jonathan, also known as “The Perez Factor”) and hope that someday CalMagazine.com will grow in popularity like YouTube, but primarily among Latinos throughout the world. They are always looking for content that is informative, interesting, funny, or newsworthy. In addition, they are looking for products to help Latino youth in their education like local teachers who can provide tutoring services via video on a variety of subjects. CalMagazine.com is also a vehicle for advertisers to use. Video commercials can be strategically placed before the selected video and will run every time the viewer clicks to watch a video, including videos that have been archived. “Quality videos for this new medium is the wave of the future,” says Jonathan Perez, Vice President of Marketing. “We believe CalMagazine.com is the ideal vehicle for advertisers to stay competitive in this quickly evolving world.
