Metro Detroit Crime Clean Up Sets Record Straight On Bio Hazardous Material

(EMAILWIRE.COM, September 19, 2011 ) Detroit, Michigan -- The worst case scenario just occurred in your commercial property. The unthinkable just happened in your foyer. Two gangs came face to face and had a standoff in your property and they brought rounds of live ammunition. Now the police are involved and you are dealing with a homicide. What do you do when you someone had died on your property? This problem is more common than you think. What you may not know is that improper blood clean up can lead to a wide range of problems including bacteria, unsanitary conditions, and also stench.

Before you look into a one stop shop clean up that handles mold and water damage consider hiring a professional like Brian Zajac. He runs the Great Lakes Bio Recovery in S.E. Michigan and he is an active fire fighter who has seen intense trauma including suicide situations and horrendous blood scenes. The first thing he will tell you that it is illegal to transport bio hazardous material in your car. If you are thinking about mopping up the blood yourself or hiring someone who hasnÂ’t gone through the proper required training you could be setting yourself up for a serious lawsuit. Sadly, this is what a lot of property owners do because they are trying to save a few bucks. That mistake can turn out your lights.

“When cleaning up a murder or suicide scene it is important to get a trained professional. The state will assign penalties for non compliance.” Says Brian Zajac. The other thing you want to consider is that many bio clean up companies often fail to do the job properly. They will not move appliances or check to see if the floor is level. Blood will settle in tight spots especially if the floor is not level. You could be looking at other unpleasant things like blood flies which can materialize and transport hazardous bacteria. Blood can also get into your vents and into your ventilation system. It is important to go to the extra step and scrub the air. This is something that a lot of companies just won’t do.

The economic situation has placed the suicide and crime clean up game into a particular turmoil. Many companies have sprouted up and claim they can do the job properly. Sadly, many of them do not have the requirements in place to do the job effectively such as Zajac and his extensive fire fighter background. They have not complied with the State of Michigan. The property owner is also putting his property in jeopardy by going with a fly by night operation and not to mention risking health violations.
