University Study Links Microdermabrasion as a Promising New Acne Scar Treatment - Riiviva.com

(EstateNewsWire.com, September 24, 2012 ) Salt Lake City, UT -- According to statistics released by the Mayo Clinic, more than 17 million people in the United States suffer from some form of acne, but results of a new study suggests that the secret to acne scar removal could be in a process called microdermabrasion.

Microdermabrasion is a light cosmetic procedure that uses a mechanical medium for exfoliation to gently remove the outer layer of dead skin cells.

According a study conducted by the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, which evaluated the affects of microdermabrasion on acne suffers, 38 percent of the 24 patients who completed the study reported having excellent results, 34 percent reported experiencing good results, 17 percent said they had fair results, and 12 percent reported poor results.

Ninety-six percent of patients evaluated, however, said they were pleased with their peel results and would recommend this procedure to others.

The study concluded that the use of microdermabrasion in the pilot study appeared to produce a positive effect on the improvement of acne.

The results of the study could prove to have perfect timing.

The developers of a new product called Riiviva Microderm say their product, which uses microdermabrasion will improve the overall condition and appearance of users’ skin.

“It works by exfoliating the skin allowing fresh new skin to grow from underneath. This can in some cases cause a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, reduce the appearance of mild acne, and improve the look of rough and bumpy skin” said Don Banner, with Riiviva.

Banner pointed out that a benefit of Riiviva Microderm is that is can be used in the privacy of anyone’s home.

Riiviva Microderm removes the outer layer of skin by gently polishing the skin with a high quality diamond tip while vacuuming the loosened skin cells away into its filter canister.

“Removing this outer layer of skin results in a smoother softer texture, and promotes collagen and the growth of healthier skin,” Mr Banner noted.

As to why people experience acne in the first place, according to the Mayo Clinic, acne sufferers may produce too much sebum, a type of lubricating oil produced by the skin's glands.

They also have problems with the proper shedding of dead skin cells. An overabundance of oil and cells blocks hair follicles, creating a pimple.

Banner stressed that Riiviva Microderm has been designed using the same principles as professional microdermabrasion systems and delivers professional results.

“We have made it possible and affordable to indulge in the same weekly beauty and anti-aging treatments as celebrities,” Mr Banner continued. “Riiviva Microderm is the quick and easy solution to beautiful glowing skin.”
