Wife of Slain Locksmith Files Claim Against Stanislaus Sheriff's Department reports Locksmith San Antonio

(EstateNewsWire.com, October 20, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA- The wife of slain locksmith Glendon Engert has filed a wrongful death suit against the Sherriff’s Department of Stanislaus County after he was gunned down by a distraught homeowner.

Mrs. Engert says the department had prior warning that the homeowner was armed. Her claim states the department did not take the proper steps to prepare for the eventual shootout that took place.

Mr. Engert was said to have paused from attempting to open the door when he heard noise coming from inside the house. "Mr. Engert was lulled into a false sense of security," the official document reads.

Engert, 35, and Deputy Bob Paris, 53, were shot and killed with an assault rifle armed with armor-piercing bullets.

Following the shooting of the two men, an 11-hour standoff ensued, ending as flames engulfed the site of the eviction. The body of the soon-to-be-evicted party was found with an arsenal of weapons inside of his house. He had committed suicide prior to the fire.

The claim against the department states that the deputies “Owed a duty to protect him (Engert).” The claim was filed August 24 by San Francisco lawyers on behalf of Widow Irina Engert.

Said attorney Richard Schoenberger on the matter, "It's unspeakably sad. She remains devastated. Glendon was her life."

Said Sherriff Christianson on Monday: "Our hearts ache for her. It's a tragedy. But right now, she's represented by counsel, and it's not appropriate for us to discuss it."

Owner of Patriot Eviction Services told the Sacramento Bee that neighbors had spoken of Ferrario’s weapons in past months. Unison noted “conveyed a warning to the deputies who would serve Ferrario," and the article is cited in Irina Engert's claim.

The claim also states that Glendon expressed reservations regarding working the doors of someone’s home while they were inside. He was nervous about the particular job the night before, the claim states.
