(EstateNewsWire.com, November 11, 2012 ) NSW, Australia- Couple Jim and Krissy Dziewior are using an alternative method to weatherproof outdoor furniture, one they say is safe for the environment.
Through their Powder Coating Specialists business in Brookfield, they clean outdoor furniture by sandblasting and then coat it electrostatically before placing it in an oven to cure. The method is better for the environment than traditional painting in that it creates no fumes, while rust resistance is greater and the effect lasts longer, according to the Dziewiors.
The unique process offers unlimited color options said Krissy Dziewior. “Instead of buying brand-new, change it with powder coating. You can change the color or the finish to give the item a completely different look.”
Krissy Dziewior, who studied management and marketing at St. Mary’s College in Indiana, handles marketing for the business. Jim Dziewior, who studied mechanical and industrial engineering at Ball State University, manages operations and sales.
They say their biggest challenge is informing the public about the powder coating process. “We’re focusing on more education to help businesses know we’re here and help people understand what they can do,” Jim said.
Since launching their business in 2008, the Dziewiors have completed a variety of projects in the United States and Europe. Those projects include the Mold-A-Rama machines at Brookfield Zoo, antiques, lawn furniture, car parts, light fixtures, radiator panels, and store display equipment.
“Every day is different, with different items,” said Jim Dziewiors. “It’s exciting. We’re never idle, always going, which is good.”
He offered advice to first-time powder coating customers. “The end of the season is better for bringing in items that need to be returned quickly. And I really need to see the condition of the item in order to give a quote. Either bring it in or take a picture if you need a price.”
The Dziewiors serve on the Board of Directors for the Ray Graham Association. They are also members of the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce and the Powder Coating Institute.
