(EstateNewsWire.com, November 11, 2012 ) Victoria, Australia- Jackson County surveyor Scott Fein refers to his recent experience as a way for voters to “try before they buy.”
Appointed acting county surveyor after his boss, Kerry Bradshaw, was killed in a motor vehicle accident. Fein hopes voters will allow him to keep the position on November 6.
"I really feel like I've proven myself by running an efficient office that gets more done with less," Fein said. "I will continue that efficiency."
He said his 12 years of surveying experience in public and private sectors will serve the county well. He added that he enjoys helping settle property line disputes.
The county surveyor and his or her staff are charged with recording surveys performed by private surveyors, resolving property line disputes and attempting to restore the 20,000 “corners” of the county, which are precise reference points that determine the location of all property lines.
Thirty-two-year-old Fein’s opponents in the November 6 election are veteran surveyors Herb Farber, 60, and 62-year-old Martin Stewart.
Farber, who has surveyed for 40 years, said he would bring a vast amount of knowledge and experience to the position. "This job involves more than just checking maps and things like that," Farber said. "I've done about everything there is to do in this profession. You name it, and I've done it."
Farber pointed to his active community service history, including with the local Rotary Club, as further proof he would be ideal for the role of county surveyor. "I look forward to serving people and have conducted workshops to educate and help Realtors and others," Farber said. "The job of surveyor is a chance to have a positive impact in people's lives."
Stewart, who has conducted more than 150 surveys in the Rogue Valley over the decades, said his philosophy of protecting personal property rights would serve the county well. "I will work with the planners and the commissioners to ensure that personal property rights are protected in the county.”
Stewart added that if elected he would likely only serve one or two terms in order to bring new blood to the position.
