(EstateNewsWire.com, November 14, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA -- A refuge sits just outside the Shannon Women’s and Children’s Center on Harris Avenue in San Angelo, Texas.
It may be a simple gazebo, but it is significant in its placement, and surrounded by beautiful white rose bushes and a quaint fountain. People who are suffering and are in pain can find solace in such simple elegance and tranquility as they sit in their thoughts. There is a sense of calmness that can be found within the faux-temple of rest.
On Sunday, the gazebo was dedicated during the White Rose Walk to Remember, which is held annually in memory of infants who have died.
A large group of mothers, grandmothers, as well as husbands and wives gathered at the Central Fire Station before the dedication.
"I am so excited," said Cindy Rogerson, White Rose program coordinator and Shannon R.N. "This is not just our regular walk to remember. Now we have a gazebo. I'm thrilled to have a place for you to go and sit, reminisce and find peace."
The gazebo is situated in the Baby’s Rose Garden at the Center, nestled within the white rose bushes that are planted every year in the memory of infants who died.
Rogers and the maintenance department came up with the gazebo concept. They then designed and built it.
Funding came from President and CEO of Foster Communications, Fred Key, through the Children’s Miracle Network.
“I was God-Inspired,” Key said. “God was talking to me.”
Foster had heard an advertisement on the radio asking for funding. At the same time, he had been looking for a way to honor Delaine Fuchs, a Network volunteer.
Delaine and her husband, Greg, had lost their baby in 2004.
"What better way to honor Delaine for all she's done for the Children's Miracle Network," Key said. "This is a blessing that just keeps giving. It's a place for people to come and sit and get their thoughts together. Where God can listen and help them heal and understand. But it's also a place for celebration. Many, many healthy babies are born here every year. They can come down here and sit and thank God for a healthy baby."
The gazebo was thus dedicated in memory of Haylee and her win sister Kaylee, as well as all God’s Miracle Babies.
