The Ski Resorts
Ruhpolding Ski Resort
The ski resort of Ruhpolding has direct access to 22km of downhill skiing, with 18 individual pistes, served by 12 ski lifts that are able to accommodate 5,000 skiers per hour.
The resort has 2 black runs, 6 red runs and 2 blue runs and is particularly good for beginners, with over 100 ski instructors available to teach cross-country and downhill techniques.
Berchtesgadener Land Ski Resort
The ski resort of Berchtesgadener Land includes the village of Schönau am Konigsee and has small drag lifts on the wooded slopes above the village, near to the Jenner ski area. Jenner itself has the main slopes of the five major Berchtesgaden ski areas being serviced by cable-cars.
The resort is particularly popular with intermediates and beginners and has direct access to 40km of downhill skiing, with 25 individual pistes served by 30 ski lifts.
Bayrischzell Ski Resort
There are two ski areas near Bayrischzell, the larger is Südelfeld - a popular choice of Munich's skiers and one of the biggest skiing areas in the country – and the other is the Wendelstein, which has the steeper vertical and is more challenging.
The Summer Season
With the summer temperatures in Bavaria tending to average between 28 to 34 degrees, the region offers visitors plenty to do during the hotter months.
The wide open surroundings and clean fresh air encourages locals and tourist to pursue healthy activities, such as hiking in the Alps, cycling, playing golf and swimming, sailing and windsurfing in Lake Chiemsee, the largest lake in Bavaria.
The area also has museums, old mines, caves, cathedrals, baroque churches and many medieval castles to visit, including the legendary Neuschwanstein castle often called the "fairytale castle" and the basis for the "Magic Kingdom" of Walt Disney.
ThereÂ’s also the Bavarian Forest, which is the oldest national park in Germany and has a network of clearly marked footpaths and cycle routes allowing visitors plenty of opportunity to enjoy the beauties of the park in the summer.
Finally there are countless nature conservation areas and more than 50 spas in the region, supplying health, wellness and relaxation remedies after a day of physical excersion.
Regional News
Due to its popularity with Germans and foreigners, Bavaria is constantly adapting and improving its facilities. The region has comprehensive transportation; low-cost, state-of-the-art infrastructure; and excellent technical resources provide Bavaria with unbeatable location assets.
The area has also seen an influx of property investment, with numerous foreign developers and investors, building and buying respectively.
The Village of Taos Ski Valley is still in the early stages of The Bavarian Inn and Chalets four-phase project, on course to be completed for the fall of 2012. The initial phase of development will include six full service chalets and chalet owners will enjoy all of the benefits of a stay at The Bavarian in the privacy of a world class ski residence at the base of the Kachina ski lift.
Also still in construction is the second phase of Apartments Ruhpolding, just outside the Bavarian village of Ruhpolding, a stone’s throw from the nearest ski slope. This low rise, three-storey complex offers studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments and all of the units are sold with a balcony or terrace and one underground car parking space. The predicted completion time is by the second quarter of next year and prices range from €118,635 to €258,000.
Dan Johnson, Managing Director, comments:
“Bavaria’s popularity continues to increase and with wonderful surroundings and plenty of great ski facilities, it’s no wonder that the Bavarian property market is attracting so much attention.”
