Beach Location
Caspersen Beach is located at the southern end of Harbor Drive, about one mile south of Venice fishing pier.
Much of the beach area has been left in its natural state, making Caspersen the least developed and most unspoilt beach of all Venice's beaches.
Hot Temptations
Although Caspersen Beach has a mile and a half of beautiful soft, light gray sand, itÂ’s better recognised as one of the best locations for the discovery of prehistoric sharks teeth and shells.
Another attraction to this beach is that during the months of May through July, many sea turtles arrive to lay their eggs there. Early morning you can normally see the tell-tale signs of turtlesÂ’ tramlines that run up the beach from the water's edge. The turtle nests are marked and sometimes covered by chicken wire to avert any attention from roaming raccoons.
This secluded location has a small nature trail, which wanders through the sandbanks, native foliage and sea-oats, finally connecting to the Venetian Waterway.
The area also has freshwater and saltwater marshes, mangrove areas and tidal flats. A dune restoration system with walkovers has been implemented to preserve the Caspersen shoreline.
