(EMAILWIRE.COM, November 10, 2008 ) Slovakia - TheMoveChannel.com, the leading international property portal, announces a number of new properties in Slovakia:
· Castle in Slovakia (£792,400, 9 bed, 7 bathrooms, mountain view)
· Castle in Western Slovakia (£950,880, 9 bed, recently renovated)
Properties in Slovakia are unlikely to be an investment opportunity UK investors have considered in the past, so TheMoveChannel.com provides an overview of Slovakia.
Growing Gains
Described as being located in the heart of Europe and with a population of over five million, Slovakia borders the Czech Republic and Austria to the west, Poland to the north, Ukraine to the east and Hungary to the south.
With one of the fastest-growing economies in Europe, Slovakia has out-performed all of its neighbouring countries over the last few years.
SlovakiaÂ’s tourist industry is gaining momentum, with UK visitors to the country increasing 38 per cent between 2006 and 2007.
The introduction of low-cost airlines has opened the region up to the rest of Europe and property developments have followed this expansion in the market.
International buying interest has been strong since the country allowed foreign purchases in 2004 and this has been bolstered by the fact that their equivalent of stamp duty was abolished in 2005.
Also, after a lull period of 10 years where very little was built after the fall of communism, the city is now constructing many new builds as there is such local demand for them.
Bratislava is the countryÂ’s capital and largest city, as well as its political, cultural, and economic centre.
The spirit of its past is tangible and visitors will enjoy the many reconstructed fountains, gothic churches, romantic narrow alleyways and one of the most stunning old squares in central Europe.
Downhill Success
Slovakia has now built itself up to become a recognised destination for skiing, although most of the countryÂ’s ski stations are better equipped for the weekend visitor as they have less lifts and runs than some of their more established rivals.
The ski resorts in the High Tatras Mountains have been attracting national and international tourists for many years.
Due to the area’s popularity there are many activities organised throughout the winter and summer seasons, keeping the buzz of the place going throughout the year. And with ski apartments available for under £80,000, the prospect to purchase is extremely tempting.
Dan Johnson, Managing Director, comments:
“Known for its striking countryside, traditional villages and eclectic architecture, Slovakia is now popular with ski enthusiasts.”
