(EMAILWIRE.COM, July 06, 2010 ) Detroit, MI – The Children’s Cardiology Department has sponsored a Summer Picnic event since the early 1980's for children that are treated at the DMC Children‘s Cardiology Department.
Bob & Heidi Brabb's son, Maxwell age 5, was born with a Heart Defect, Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. Max has had 15 operations and Three Open Heart Surgeries.
Bob Brabb said "Max has enjoyed the last three annual Ticker Club picnics. Max's heart was broken when we told him this year's picnic was canceled".
Central Vision got involved to help raise funds and donations to keep the ongoing tradition of the Ticker Club's annual picnic.
We know we are in tough times, especially here in Michigan, however, we wanted to see if you can help keep the Picnic on (was scheduled for August 14, 2010).
John Drouillard, whose son Dyllon age 5, was also born with a Heart Defect, said, "This is more than just a picnic. It is a special day where parents and their children get an opportunity to meet and socialize with other families affected by Heart Disease in a casual and fun atmosphere.”
We are thankful to the following organizations that have made generous commitments for this yearÂ’s picnic:
Central Vision - Donation, coordination of donations and volunteers
Dan Dan The Choo Choo Man - Train rides through the park
Lowes of Harper Woods - Use of a Grill and misc items for the kids
Hoover & Associates - Donation
Mortgage 1 Don Geml - Donation
Bill Miller - Volunteer
Holiday Heating & Cooling - Donation
We still need more help to pull this off:
Food, catering equipment, games, entertainment, door prizes, raffle items and volunteers -- arrangements can be made by contacting Bob or Heidi Brabb at 313-884-4646 Bob.Brabb@Gmail.com
