(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 08, 2012 ) LIVERMORE, CA – Kakadu Art & Design in Wood, an e-tailer of hand-painted home furnishings, recently introduced an interactive Tabletop Designer. The new feature allows shoppers to create the perfect customized tabletop with Kakadu’s unique, hand-painted wooden placemats, table runners, and lazy susans.
Shoppers at kakadu-design.com begin the design process by choosing the shape and color of their tabletop, along with the number of place settings it accommodates. They then dress the table by drag-and-dropping their favorite designs from KakaduÂ’s myriad placemat options, and can complement the placemats with a stunning Kakadu lazy susan or table runner as a centerpiece.
David Jonas, owner of kakadu-design.com, says the Tabletop Designer makes the shopping experience much easier. “Most of our customers are not buying four or six placemats of the same design; they’re mixing and matching multiple designs,” he explains. “That can be hard to do in the typical shopping site format, where each item is on a separate page and you have to click back and forth. We wanted to give customers a way to see how the designs would look together, laid out on their tables at home.”
As customers design—and redesign—their perfect table, a Tabletop Calculator generates a real-time shopping list of the items chosen and their prices. When satisfied with their choices, shoppers can add the entire customized collection to their shopping basket with a single click.
Hand-crafted in Israel, KakaduÂ’s tabletop pieces are individually painted in over 50 distinctive art motifs. The placemats and table runners are constructed from mahogany, and the lazy susans from pine. A perfect union of art and function, the pieces are coated with a durable, scratch and stain-resistant acrylic lacquer that makes them easy to clean and ideal for daily use.
In addition to tableware, Kakadu offers hand-painted wooden home accessories, CD storage, and floor décor; and a line of Judaica that includes menorahs, ornaments, and Tzedakah boxes. The company also periodically features the work of guest artists from around the world.
