VARIOUS ORGANIC WASTES can be added into the pile, such as eggshells, older plants, cotton, wool and even hair. These materials are all biodegradable, meaning they will all break down.
DO NOT ADD meat or dairy to the pile, as this will entice pests in the garden. Too much nitrogen can cause the compost to smell, so to solve this, add more brown waste such as grass or old newspaper. Composting not only helps the soil in the garden but it also helps reduce the amount of trash one has, helping the “Go Green” effort.
