For example if a dumpster measures 3ft x 3ft x 6ft this would be 3x3=9 9x6=54, thus 54 cubic feet or in yards instead of 3ftx3ftx6ft one could change it to 1yrd x 1yrd x 2 yrd or 1 x 1 x 2= 2 cubic yards.
Figuring Without the Math
Lets face it figuring out the standard math way can be confusing to some of us. There is another way to figure out the size one may need and this is by comparing a cubic yard to a particular item or project. This will give a general view as to the weight and volume a dumpster can carry. For example:
10-Yard Container: This of course can hold 10 cubic yards of debris or waste. One may compare this to covering a double size mattress or couch. This size therefore would be a good residential rental for basic home clean out or repair, small yard or small deck removal.
20-yard container: This of course can hold 20 cubic yards or one may compare this to 2500 sq. ft. of single layer roof shingles, large yard or garage clean-up, debris from 330 sq. ft. deck remodel or large interior remodel, flooring or carpet removal.
30-yard container– Can hold 30 cubic yards or one may compare this to 4000 sq.ft of single layer of roof shingles, a large yard or garage clean-up, a large interior remodel, large exterior siding job or large window replacements or construction of a new home or removal of an edition or garage.
40-yard container – Can hold 40 cubic yards or one may compare this to 5000 sq. ft. of single layer roof shingles, a very large yard or very larger garage clean-up, a very large interior remodeling, a very large exterior siding job or window replacements, construction of a new home, removal of an edition or garage or a commercial building construction or remodel job.
