(EMAILWIRE.COM, May 01, 2012 ) Little Chute, WI – The Little Chute Dryer Vent Cleaning Wizard learned something new from one of his customers which he shares with consumers. Vinyl or plastic duct kits are a serious fire hazard when attached to the clothes dryer; however, one customer showed the Wizard a safe and appropriate use for this material.
The Wizard works to encourage consumer awareness of the importance of proper dryer vent installation and regular cleaning service to prevent dryer fires. He also takes advantage of every opportunity to educate his customers.
Robb Vandenberg owns Dryer Vent Wizard in Northeast Wisconsin. The Wizard told an interesting story about dryer vent service performed for the Living Tree Estates, a nursing home facility with two residential style dryers which are vented straight through the roof.
Robb was pleased to see that the materials used were acceptable; however, the transition ducts could use some upgrading to increase air flow. Since the dryer vents were 80 percent blocked by lint accumulation, Robb performed a complete dryer vent cleaning service as he thought about how he could reconnect the transition to promote more efficient air flow.
Remembering his training, Vandenberg recalled an idea presented by another Wizard. This was the perfect application for the Dryer Dock Quick Connect in combination with Semi-rigid pipe. Robb and the customer were happy with the solution which improved dryer performance while taking up less space behind the dryer.
After completing the job and cleaning up his work area Robb struck up a friendly conversation with one of the staff members. The Little Chute Dryer Vent Cleaning Wizard is happy educate his customers while he works. To the Wizard’s surprise, he also received an education that day.
“She said she wanted to show me something,” said Vandenberg. “It was a rather cute pumpkin made out of flexible corrugated material that many people use for dryer vent systems. Recognizing an opportunity to educate, I advised the customer that this type of material should never be used for dryer vent systems.”
Robb couldn’t resist taking a picture of the artwork as he offered to provide all the flexible venting they needed to make more pumpkins. “I don’t know what you will do with all the lint that comes with the flexible tubing,” laughed Vandenberg. “Maybe I’ll come up with some ideas for recycling dryer lint!”
