(EstateNewsWire.com, May 29, 2012 ) Dothan, AL -- Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority (AMHA) helps its renters in Akron, Ohio achieve financial independence through their Family Self Sufficiency Program. After application and acceptance into the program, an AMHA renter is assisted in finding programs such as education or employment assistance that would help the renter meet their goals of living without receiving subsidies. Since the amount of rent charged is based on income, as the renter’s income increases they would naturally expect a rent increase, however the extra rent amount is placed into a savings account and returned to the renter on successful completion of the program!
To apply for housing, one would begin the process by attending an orientation at the AMHA Central Office. Two orientations are conducted every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Sign in begins at 8:00 a.m. for both the 9:00 and 1:00 orientation. If the 1:00 orientation is not full after the 8:00 a.m. sign in, additional applicants who sign in by 1:00 p.m. may be seen. All applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
For more information about the services offered through Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority, call (330) 762-9631 or visit their website at www.akronhousing.org.
