(EstateNewsWire.com, June 23, 2012 ) Dallas, Texas – Sluggish construction activity and a palpably increasing interest in house remodeling are fostering competition among contractors; driving bidding prices down. Home Improvement The Easy Way cautions homeowners on rashly delegating home fixups to cheap bidders.
“Home remodeling really is a consumers’ market today. Contractors are under immense pressure to obtain work as new home construction continues to face a dearth of interest. Home remodelers, as a result, are perhaps piling up savings in the thousands,” Home Improvement the Easy Way owner K. Chatman commented.
Homeowners are engaging project bidders in a way unseen last year. In fact, the Remodeling Futures Program at Harvard University – Joint Center for Housing Studies forecasted that annual spending on remodeling projects will soar 5.9% by year-end.
However, many homeowners are still on the lookout for great bargains in regards to remodeling projects such as interior designs.
“Cheap bids are not everything,” Mr. Chatman said. “Your home improvement decisions should not be exclusively tethered to cheap prices.”
Contractors who bid too low for a project may render insipid work, leave it undone, or demand additional money later. K. Chatman stressed sifting project bidders for their valid licenses, direct experience, and relevant qualifications first. He also stressed the importance of getting workers who are adequately insured, lest he or she get injured while working. Having ascertained these, a homeowner may then enter into a contract.
"Have your network refer you to trusty contractors," K.A. Chatman advised. “For good measure, check their records with builder associations.”
