(EMAILWIRE.COM, October 23, 2007 ) Hollywood, California -- Over 15 production and studio executives met with PGA members at the fabled Stage 8 on the Sunset Gower Studios lot, this past Saturday, October 20.According to Kyle Katz, PGA Director of Member Benefits and Sunset Gower Studios VP of Marketing, Terri Melkonian, this presented a unique opportunity for the Producers Guild membership to meet with production executives while also acquainting themselves with the newly refurbished, full-service 16-acre facility that has been the site of so many award-winning motion picture and television productions in its 86 year history.Founded in 1921 as Columbia Pictures, by mogul Harry Cohen it housed the productions companies that created classics such as “It Happened One Night,” “From Here To Eternity,” “The Joker Is Wild,” “The Caine Mutiny” and Stanley Kramer’s memorable “Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner.” In recent years it has been the studio where the television series “The Golden Girls,” “Barney Miller,” “Married With Children,” and “Saved By The Bell” have been created. Currently the NBC hit series “Heroes” and Showtime’s thriller “Dexter” make their home on the lot.In addition to the television and commercial productions, many current feature films have graced the Sunset Gower sound stages including Alvin & The Chipmunks (FOX animated feature), The Good German (George Clooney), Georgia Rule (Jane Fonda, Lindsay Lohan) and The Good Shepherd (Robert DeNiro) among others. A host of music videos, commercials as well as film and TV productions have utilized the studio’s newly decorated 415,000-sq. ft. of executive and production office space. Sunset Gower Studios has also installed a state-of-the-art, fully equipped, panoramic cyclorama sound stage and Air Hollywood has set up production headquarters for its dazzling array of mock aircraft interiors and exteriors.
