(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 15, 2007 ) Newport Beach, CA - Throughout the past several months, award-winning composer/songwriter Darren Wilsey has continued to up the ante securing numerous sync licensing deals and film scoring deals. Cherry Ave. Records just announced that a song from their latest release Boystown: The Soundtrack is burning up the download charts on several popular online music stores. Two versions of "Life is for Living" have been top ten dance tracks on PayPlay.fm for several weeks. "Life is for Living" features vocalist Julissa Aguirre and was written and produced by Darren Wilsey. "I am thrilled by the attention this song has generated, and it has been very exciting to witness it connect with music fans online" noted Rick Reidling, who is the soundtrack album's executive producer. "I have always believed in this song's hit potential and that is why it was selected as the theme song for the series. Julissa's vocal work is stellar and Darren Wilsey is an amazing musician & songwriter."The soundtrack album is currently listed on Today's Top 40 chart on CDBaby.com, and also includes songs performed by Fuzz Box, Patrick Klein, and Sarah Lovely. Remixes by some popular DJs, radio edits and a music video for "Life is for Living" are all in the works for early 2007. In addition, two songs from the Platinum CD featuring songs written/produced by Wilsey and sung by Sarah Lovely were licensed for "Life with Derik" (The Disney Channel). Wilsey's song "Melt Away" co-written by Phil Vassil and performed by Skytrain will be used in the new film "Teeth". The film was just accepted into the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. And several of Wilsey's instrumental tracks were licensed for the VH-1 hit show "Breaking Bonaduce". Darren Wilsey is an award winning composer, songwriter, and music producer who has written, produced and mixed music for movie soundtracks, advertisements, and network television, including Third Watch (NBC), Ghost Whisper (CBS), Strong Medicine (Lifetime), Tilt (ESPN), Sex and the City (HBO), Punk’d (MTV), Everybody’s Doing It (MTV), Queer as Folk (Showtime), Miss Match (NBC), Freshman Diaries (Showtime), Queer Eye for the Straight Guy (Bravo), Skin (Fox), Ice Wars (CBS Sports), Poor Little Rich Girls (WB pilot) and Snowboarding World (NBC Sports). He is a conservatory graduate as well as an avid fan and producer of mainstream music spanning several genres. In 2000, he toured the United States with the rock group Vibrolush (V2 Records) in support of the Billboard Modern Rock Top 40 single “Touch & Go.” Wilsey scored the acclaimed documentary Silicon Alley Stories, written and directed by Emmy Award-Winner Thurston Smith, and won Best Documentary at the 2001 New York Independent Film Festival. In 2003, Wilsey scored another film directed by Thurston Smith called Whoa: The Influence of Art., winning Best Short Film at the New York Independent Film Festival in 2004. Wilsey is a two-time grand prize winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest (2003 & 2001). In 2003, he was commissioned to score music for ice skating legend and Olympic Gold medalist Brian Boitano, used on tour and the CBS television special Ice Wars. In February 2005, his song “Fire it Up” was licensed by the E! Network and the music featured in the 2005 British Academy of Film & Television Awards Show commercial. During the summer of 2005 he wrote and produced a full orchestral score for the thriller film Look@Me (IFM International Releasing, Inc), and in October, completed scoring The Life Coach, recently winning Best Comedy at the 2005 Queens International Festival. In February 2006, The Belkin Electronic Corporation commissioned Wilsey to write music and produce a voiceover tribute played at the 2006 Grammy Awards Welcoming Ceremony, and Ralph Lauren licensed Darren’s music for use in the 2006 Polo Fashion Show in Manhattan. Wilsey was a classical guitar major at The Manhattan School of Music, and with advanced academic standing he graduated with a B.M. in 1993. He also studied piano and music composition at The Juilliard School of Music. He holds a B.A. in chemistry from Hunter College, and a M.F.A. from The University of California at Irvine, majoring in music composition and technology on full academic fellowship.
